We are building a new Health and Care centre for the residents of Reydon, Southwold and the surrounding villages.
A little over 100 years ago this community had the foresight and energy to build and run Southwold Hospital for the benefit of all who needed it. The Hospital is at the centre of our community for the practical support it gives, but also embodies our collective values of care and dignity for our fellow citizens.
In spite of its recent upgrade it is a continual struggle to enable the existing building to fully meet the requirements of modern health care. Improving care services are particularly relevant to older people with long term conditions or complex needs. Health and social care professionals and carers and volunteers will be caring for more people in the future as our population ages, and they need to be able to offer patients and their families the appropriate level of support.
If we are to meet these challenges we need to have the same community foresight and responsibility to endow future generations with the facilities and services that are needed. This is an idea which has been discussed for many years, and is now taking shape.
